Okay, I am no prophet. My prediction went wrong this time. But it’s not just me– I believe the results were quite a shocker: Angie Miller did not make it to the Top 2 for this season. I am an Angie fan, but I do think that both Candice Glover and Kree Harisson are great, amazing artists. At this point, I am okay with the results. Anyone of them could be this year’s American Idol.
Actually, when I made that prediction of Angie winning this season, I forgot one tiny detail: she is not from the south. For those who have not noticed, 8 out of the 11 American winners hail from the South. Kree Harrison and Candice Glover, on the other hand are from… you guess it! the south. For some reason, the Southerners really take this show seriously. They vote, vote, vote and vote again for the contestant they are rooting for. It’s the reason why Jessica Sanchez lost to Phillip Phillips, and why Kris Allen won instead of Adam Lambert.
I could not hide the fact that I am disappointed but really, winning the American Idol does not guarantee successful careers. I mean, take it from Chris Daughtry who is now considered as the third most successful American Idol contestant, tailing behind Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, both winners in their respective seasons. Daughtry never made it to the Top 3 in his season, much to the surprise of many. On the other hand, Taylor Hicks, the winner for the 2006 American Idol where Daughtry was a contender, is really unheard of these days.
So, yes… as Angie’s fan, I have no doubts that this girl has a great career awaiting her. I would be missing her angelic voice during this year’s finale.
Team Angie all the way!
