American Idol Final 2

Okay, I am no prophet.  My prediction went wrong this time.  But it’s not just me– I believe the results were quite a shocker:  Angie Miller did not make it to the Top 2 for this season.   I am an Angie fan, but I do think that both Candice Glover and Kree Harisson are great, amazing artists.  At this point, I am okay with the results.  Anyone of them could be this year’s American Idol.

Actually, when I made that prediction of Angie winning this season, I forgot one tiny detail:  she is not from the south.  For those who have not noticed, 8 out of the 11 American winners hail from the South.  Kree Harrison and Candice Glover, on the other hand are from… you guess it!  the south.  For some reason, the Southerners really take this show seriously.  They vote, vote, vote and vote again for the contestant they are rooting for.  It’s the reason why Jessica Sanchez lost to Phillip Phillips, and why Kris Allen won instead of Adam Lambert.

I could not hide the fact that I am disappointed but really, winning the American Idol does not guarantee successful careers.  I mean, take it from Chris Daughtry who is now considered as the third most successful American Idol contestant, tailing behind Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, both winners in their respective seasons.  Daughtry never made it to the Top 3 in his season, much to the surprise of many.  On the other hand, Taylor Hicks, the winner for the 2006 American Idol where Daughtry was a contender, is really unheard of these days.

So, yes… as Angie’s fan, I have no doubts that this girl has a great career awaiting her.  I would be missing her angelic voice during this year’s finale.

Team Angie all the way!

American Idol Season 13 Top 3

Ok, I got it right again this time.  My top 3 bets Kree Harrison, Candice Glover and Angie Miller are intact.  I have grown to love Amber Holcomb too and it’s sad to see her not making it to the top 3 but somehow I saw that coming already.

Left to right: Angie, Candice and Kree

I think Kree is saying goodbye this week, leaving Candice and Angie to the Top 2.  Actually, Kree would have been a contender too but during the last few weeks the girl has been constantly in the bottom 2.  And although I hate to admit it, I agree with Nicki Minaj:  somehow Kree’s “light” has grown dim.  She’s not the same vibrant, versatile singer that she was earlier the season.

Well, let’s see how good I am at this! Haha! And who do I see winning?

Angie Miller.

Yes, Randy Jackson has said it twice last week:  This girl’s in it to win it!

Why Angie?  For the record, this has nothing to do with that she is white.  Candice is a brilliant singer and honestly, I really don’t mind if she will win this season.  Like any other seasons, it could be anybody’s game.

But here are my reasons why I am rooting for Angie and why I think she will win this year:

1.  Likability-    Simon said AI Winner Carrie Underwood had this, too.  Angie’s smile and her humor is just… likable.

2.  Talent-  She is the only AI contestant in this season’s top 3 that composes her own songs.  Mariah Carey says that her songwriting skill will give her career longevity.  She is so amazing on the piano and her vocal range is just crazy.

3.  Never been in the bottom 3-  Being a fan of AI since Fantasia won in season 3, this has become a trend:  anyone who won AI has never been in the bottom 3.  It only means that their support base is strong right from the very start.

Here’s Angie’s one of Angie’s performances last week:

Isn’t she a-mazing?

How about you?  Who’s your bet this year?

Beauty and the Beast

Finally, hubby and I found a movie series that we could watch together.  Hubby loves watching action/suspense movies while I am a sucker for love stories.  ”Beauty and the Beast” is an American television series inspired by the 1987 CBS  by the same name.

Detective Catherine Chandler was a witness to her mother’s death as a teenager.  Her mom who was a doctor worked for a company that was kept a secret from her family.  On that fateful night of her mother’s murder, Catherine was saved by a hideous, beast-like creature which remained to be a mystery until ten years later.  Chandler was working on a case that led to Vincent Keller, an ex-soldier who was supposed to be dead was actually alive.  As Catherine got to know him better, her mother’s death made more sense.  More than that, a budding romance was developed between the two.

Vincent was like any normal guy under normal circumstances but when he is aggravated or angry, he transforms into a beast.  This is because he was one of those soldiers who was experimented on by the US army who wanted to make “super soldiers” except that the experiments had some glitches.  All of them had to be gotten rid of.  All of his fellow soldiers were killed and he was the only one that escaped.

Having a relationship with someone who’s supposedly long dead and gone  and being hunted down by the same company that killed her mother is the challenge that Catherine had to face.  It’s a risk she had to take, all for love.  Starring Kristin Kreuk and Ryan Jay,  ”Beauty and the Beast” got  hubby and I are hooked.  We are about to finish the first season and according to sources, CW has just approved the series’ Season 2.  I can’t wait!
