I have been an American Idol fan since Season 3. Somehow the show gets unpredictable at times– like for Season 4, I loved Carrie Underwood and was rooting for her all the way, but at the same time, who did not love Bo Bice?  His loss was almost unacceptable to fans.

Who would expect that Kris Allen would win over Adam Lambert? Or  that Chris Daughtry would not make it to the top 3 in season 5?

So as I have been watching American Idol season after season, I somehow became better at predictions– despite of the show’s unpredictability, somehow you can see patterns, making predictions a bit easy.  But hey,  I am no prophet and I don’t claim to be that accurate.  I could always be wrong.

I have to confess that when the AI wannabes for this season was narrowed down to 4, I just knew it was going to be Philip Philipps.  But then again, I could be wrong.  For the last 4 seasons we have had 4 white guys playing the guitar winning the show.  When I looked at Phillips, that cheeky smile and that originality in his voice and style, he looked like he was what America wanted. Maybe we could blame it to those screaming girls. Of course, like J Lo said, this is a battle between the opposites:  Sanchez’ powerful voice, control, beauty and stage presence versus Phillips’ charm and originality.

I guess I will just have to sleep tonight and wait for the results tomorrow.  Being a Filipino, I have to say that Jessica made us proud.  She is one amazing  singer, a breath of fresh air to the show.  But inasmuch as I want her to win, I still think it’s going to be Philips who will win the title.

To Jessica, you are still 16.  You will have a great career ahead of you– that is guaranteed.  You have proven to America and the world that a girl as young as you are is capable of reaching her dreams.  To Phillips, keep rocking, man.  Goodluck to both of you, two amazing artists who  have made it this far.  Both of you, to me, are winners . Congratulations and good job, guys!
